As winter approaches, many ask the question, "What happens if I get stuck?". Well, you should have an emergency kit with some sort of gritty substance to get you out. But what should you use? Many people choose sand, kitty litter, or salt.

Sand is gritty and can help give you superior traction even if the snow or ice is melting from the spinning tires.

Litter will absorb massive amounts of water, which helps give you more contact with the ground if it absorbs snow under the tire. It also gives you a lot of traction to help get you unstuck.

Finally, and possibly the best, is salt. Salt or ice melt will literally melt away the snow or ice to help you get unstuck. However, it is hard on metal and can lead to corrosion.
